PRESTIGE AWARD CATEGORIES
Taste Excellence 2013
Determined at the ‘Taste the Best 2013’ workshop, this is an elite list of Nairobi’s thirteen best restaurants and bars. They were selected based on a voting process by the workshop panellists who graded on a variety of criteria including exceptional food, enhanced service, great entertainment, a broad beverage selection and ambiance to deliver an overall experience that is exceptional. This list recognizes the bars and restaurants that have excelled throughout the year.
The list was derived from the top 12 restaurants and top 12 bars ranked at the workshop. An additional nomination of one restaurant and one bar was selected by Taste.
Prestige Awards
Outlets nominated for these awards were shortlisted from the ‘Taste The Best 2013‘ workshop, with an allowance for the Prestige Judges to unanimously select additional nominees.
Winners of these awards were determined by this Prestige Judging Panel and panellists from the workshop. They truly reflect the individuals in the kitchens, behind the bars and front-of-house that deliver an exceptional experience and excel within the industry.
Judging criteria for these awards was stringent, detailed and bench-marked against criteria designed by the internationally recognized AAA Five Diamond rating system. Scores were compiled and collated by BDO East Africa to determine the restaurant or bar with the highest score for each award.
Taste Recognition
Each year, Taste recognises and applauds individuals and companies that have significantly contributed to the betterment of the industry.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS
The People’s Choice Awards were open to public voting. Winners of each of the awards were determined by the number of votes received. Nominations for the People’s Choice Awards were derived from Taste and the Prestige Judges. However, an option to select ‘other’ and nominate an alternate establishment was open to each voter.
